Getting Started with the Free Trial

Introduction

Thank you for your interest in the VoiceShot IVR API.  We know your time is valuable and have designed this free trial period so you can instantly experience the power of the VoiceShot IVR API and do so free of charge.  If you have any questions along the way, please contact us

Placing Phone Calls

Placing calls during the free trial is no different than placing calls with a paid account.

Receiving Phone Calls

Receiving phone calls during the free trial is slightly different than with a paid account.  With a paid account, you get your own phone number.  For the free trial, we have a toll free number dedicated for testing.  In your account, you set the caller id you will be calling in from.

Expiration

The free trial is not time limited.  It will not expire after a preset number of days.

When you use the IVR API, you are sending and receiving XML phone call commands and data over HTTP or HTTPS.  When you send or receive XML data over HTTP/HTTPS, this is a "post".  The free trial allows your account 30 posts.  When you reach 30 posts, you will receive an email indicating that the free trial is over.

Getting Started

We refer to phone call structures as call "campaigns".  Campaigns can be as simple as a single message for an outbound voice alert or sophisticated multi-message IVR menus with multiple branches.

When you download the example code, two demonstration call campaigns are created in your account, an outbound voice alert example and an inbound IVR customer service example.  The example ASP, .NET, PHP and ColdFusion code that we have provided are based on these campaigns.  Of course, you could build your own unique campaign during the free trial, but these examples are a good place to get started.

What to do Next

The next step is to install the example code and make your first test inbound or outbound phone call.
